Women With Uterine Fibroids

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Fibroids can cause very heavy periods, leading to anemia and iron deficiency. They don’t normally change the pattern of the menstrual cycle itself – usually the bleeding is regular but much heavier than usual.

It may also cause pain or a feeling of pressure or immensity in the lower pelvic area (the area between

the hip bones), the back or the legs. Some women have pain during sexual intercourse.

Fibroids are an enormous health care problem because they are the primary reason agreed for surgery in 199,000 hysterectomies and 30,000 myomectomies performed yearly in the US. The cost of inpatient surgery for fibroids is about $2 billion a year.

They may push against, or block the entrance to, the fallopian tubes, thus preventing the egg from reaching the uterus. Submucous fibroids that grow inwards into the womb are thought to cause recurrent miscarriage. They also can put pressure on the bladder, causing frequent urination.

Fibroids tend to grow very slowly. Their growth is related to the hormonal changes that occur during the menstrual cycle and is affected by the female hormones.

They also can push on the bladder or bowel causing women to pass urine more frequently or to have difficulty in passing a bowel motion. Sometimes the pressure can be uncomfortable or painful. Fibroids are often diagnosed during a routine gynaecological examination (they are felt by the examiner).

The diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound scan . Fibroids are common in women of the reproductive age group and tend to reduce in size after the onset of the menopause. They are particularly common in black women and grow to an extremely large size when compared with women who are of a Caucasian social class.

Many can be removed via laparotomy (habitual open operation to access the abdominal cavity), laparoscopy (key hole surgery to access the abdominal cavity) or hysteroscopy (viewing the uterine cavity via the cervix with the aid of a telescopic instrument).

The review assesses the differing surgical methods for treating fibroids with regard to improving fertility outcomes with minimal side effects. Fibroids are hormonally sensitive so symptoms are likely to be cyclical, like menstruation.

As estrogen levels tend to increase prior to the onset of menopause, this may cause the size of many uterine fibroids to increase. Fibroids also can make it hard for you to get pregnant. Sometimes fibroids can cause problems with pregnancy, labor or delivery, including miscarriage and premature birth.

They are likely to increase in size each year until menopause. Changes in fibroid size should not be an indication for a fibroid procedure unless accompanied by disabling symptoms. They also can sometimes cause problems becoming pregnant and maintaining a pregnancy.

Fibroid growth seems to be dependent on hormonal fluctuations. Many occur in up to 50% of women, causing symptoms such as heavy periods, pain, infertility, frequent passing of urine and bowel symptoms in up to 25% of cases. Uterine fibroids are the most common reason for women to undergo hysterectomy in the United Kingdom.

Natural Remedies For Ovarian Cysts Can Deliver Permanent Relief From Pain and Discomfort

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Women suffering the pain and discomfort caused by ovarian cysts may think their relief only lies with certain medications or even surgery.  But, medications fall small because they only mask the symptoms.  And medications or surgery aren’t particularly effective in preventing new cysts from developing then rupturing.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a shape up in which many small cysts form in the ovaries.  This can affect a woman’s ability to get pregnant.

Ovarian cysts frequently don’t cause any symptoms.  You may not realize one exists until you undergo a routine pelvic exam.  But ovarian cysts cause problems if they twist, bleed or rupture.

Pain or bloating in the abdomen Difficulty urinating, or frequent need to urinate Dull ache in the lower back Pain during sexual intercourse Painful menstruation and abnormal bleeding Weight gain Nausea or vomiting Loss of appetite, feeling full quickly

Most ovarian cysts will, in time, disappear without treatment.  That’s why surgery is not permanently a prudent option.  This is especially right for women who constantly experience recurrent ovarian cysts.  They have a strong desire to rid their bodies of the problem for excellent.

The more internal pressure you’re experiencing on your lower abdomen the more pain you’ll experience due to ovarian cysts.

You Can Rely on Natural Ovarian Cyst Home Treatments to Reduce Pain and Eliminate Cysts. Here’s How

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Many women are disgusted after subjecting themselves to numerous medications or even painful surgeries in a futile attempt to eliminate ovarian cysts and prevent them from reappearing in their bodies.

They’ve have had enough of such unsystematic medical treatments and are now gaining relief by applying ovarian cyst home treatment methods.  Such treatments can reduce or eliminate the pain women experience, eliminate cysts from their bodies and prevent them from reoccurring.

Cysts are liquid-filled sacs capable of forming anywhere in a person’s body.  Some can form on a woman’s ovaries.  Ovarian cysts are very common during a woman’s childbearing being.

The most common type of ovarian cyst is a functional cyst that develops during ovulation when the egg fails to release or the structure that holds the egg doesn’t dissolve after the egg has been released.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is characterized by many small cysts forming in the ovaries.

Most frequently, ovarian cysts don’t have any symptoms.  But if any of the following conditions exist, you should determine their cause.

Typical cyst symptoms

• Frequent need to urinate

• Pain during sexual intercourse

• Bloating or abdominal pain

• Difficulty urinating

• Appetite loss

• Weight gain

• Lower back pain

• Pain during menstruation or abnormal bleeding

• Upset stomach

More severe symptoms

• Fatigue

• Dizziness

• Acute abdominal pain

• Fever

• Vomiting

• Shortness of breath and/or rapid breathing

Cysts that form on the ovaries can be painful and in severe cases can permanently hurt a woman’s reproductive organs.  The frequent reoccurrence ovarian cysts can increase the probability of infertility or the possibly of a miscarriage after a woman is pregnant.  Also, extended use of pain killers and hormone supplements is inherently perilous to a woman’s by and large health.  Some of these medications can cause irreversible liver or kidney hurt.

While surgery may be a viable option in many instances, it can’t prevent future cysts from developing.

After gaining such limited results from typical medical remedies, many women are applying natural, readily available remedies to regain control of their bodies.

You can do many things to rid your body of cysts, and some of the most effective home treatments include

Heat Therapy

Placing a heating pad over your pelvic area will grant some immediate comfort while promoting healing of the area.

Fiber and Water

By rising your fiber and water intake, you will reduce pressure on the lower abdomen.  This, in turn, will reduce pressure on the ovaries.  Reducing pressure in this area makes it simpler for cysts to heal.  And drinking plenty of water helps to filter out toxins and keep the body strong.

Stress Reduction

Stress can be one of the largest contributing factors for just about any disease — including ovarian cysts.  Do as much as possible to reduce your daily stress.  Even taking a five minute break to delight in a cup of herbal tea can make a significant variation in your by and large wellbeing.
