The cat population in America is more than 75 million, and anyone who owns a cat knows that stains and smells from cat urine odor can be a problem. Cat urine that seeps through carpet, into padding and down to the floor beneath can give your home an unpleasant aroma and bad look. In almost all cases, cat urine is the worst perpetrator for cat stains and cat odors.
When cats urinate as a means of elimination, they normally do it on a horizontal or flat surface like the ground or in a litter box. When cats spray in order to mark their territory, they turn their backsides to the object, twitch their tails and spray urine on the vertical surface.

“I read this informative book with disbelief and mounting rage. Being denied the biologic right to urinate not only injures the kidneys but is probably a potent risk factor for heart problems. It has been amply demonstrated that work pressure, no-exit situations, and psychologic stressors predispose to progressions of coronary vascular disease. I can think of few stresses more intolerable than the pressures of a full bladder. Not even criminals in solitary confineme… More >>

How does the urinary tract become infected?
Normal urine contains no bacteria (germs). Bacteria may, at times, get into the urinary tract and the urine from the skin around the rectum and genitals by traveling up the urethra into the bladder. When this happens, the bacteria can infect and inflame the bladder and cause swelling and pain in the lower abdomen and side. This bladder infection is called cystitis.
If the bacteria travel up through the ureters to the kidneys, a kidney infection can develop. The infection is usually accompanied by pain and fever. Kidney infections are much more serious than bladder infections.

The infection starts from the inflammation of bladder to the serve infection of kidneys when the bacterium reaches the kidneys. The treatment is cured by the use of antibiotics but if the case is serious one it undergoes the surgery.
Every year, more number of women suffer from this infection when compared to men as the size of urinary bladder is long as compared to men which stops the bacteria from coming out quickly.
There is a bacterium called Escherichia coli or E-coli that causes the urine infection. Diabetes is one of the major reasons for urine infections to take place.

Seeing your dog urinating blood can be very alarming but you shouldn’t panic. It is a common problem that can be alleviated and cured if you act quickly. Don’t ignore the symptom because it can become life-threatening if left untreated.
If your dog is urinating blood, that means he probably has a urinary tract infection. The infection could be of the kidneys, bladder, or urethra. The tissues of the urinary tract are very fragile so even a mild infection can cause bleeding.
If you notice your male dog urinating blood, he may have a prostate gland infection. If your dog’s testicles and penis are also swollen, you can suspect a prostate gland infection.

Kidney infection (pyelonephritis) is a specific type of urinary tract infection (UTI) that generally begins in your urethra or bladder and travels up into your kidneys. If not treated properly, kidney infection can permanently damage your kidneys or spread to your bloodstream and cause a life-threatening infection. Prompt medical attention is required.
The kidneys are an important component of the urinary system. These organs process blood; filter out waste; and flush out waste as urine, which travels to the bladder through tubes called ureters and is eliminated from the body through the urethra. The kidneys also keep certain chemicals balanced and produce hormones that help maintain blood pressure, red blood cell count, and healthy bones.
